M-NEW Launches Call for Papers for Its 5th Annual Workshop

The Millennium Nucleus on the Evolution of Work (MNEW) invites researchers to submit academic papers for its 5th Annual Workshop, to be held on November 20 and 21, 2026, at the Austral University of Chile, Valdivia.

The workshop aims to bring together research from different social science disciplines interested in understanding the contemporary transformations of work, their causes and consequences, as well as the challenges faced by workers in Latin America and other regions of the world.

The event will feature Professor Miguel Martínez Lucio (University of Manchester) as keynote speaker. His research focuses on comparative labor relations, international human resource management, and the transformation of work in contexts of economic and technological change.

Proposals will be accepted in the following Nucleus research areas:

a) New Forms of Work Organization New forms of work organization have emerged as an imperative for organizations in a context shaped by profound technological, political, economic, and demographic transformations. This area addresses changes in the organization and management of work, labor relations, and the experiences of workers.

b) Technological Transformation The so-called fourth industrial revolution is changing the way people work and interact with machines, computers, algorithms, and digital platforms. This area examines the impacts of new technologies on employment, working conditions, labor skills, and power relations in the workplace.

Submissions should consist of an abstract (between 300 and 1,000 words) or a full article. There is no length limit for full articles. Proposals should be sent to mnewworkshop@gmail.com, indicating in the subject line the thematic area to which they are applying.

Additionally, applicants who require support to attend the workshop may request a grant to cover travel and accommodation expenses. This request must be explicitly stated in the application email.

Submission deadline: June 15, 2026.
